At St. Vincent de Paul, your financial gifts are what drive the liturgies, ministries and activities we celebrate as a community at St. Vincent de Paul each year. They allow us to maintain our facilities, empower our ministries and engage all who worship here as a community.
YEAR – END AND OTHER GIVING CONSIDERATIONS
This is the time of year when people consider giving charitable contributions to their favorite charities. We hope that you consider St. Vincent de Paul Church as one of your favorites. Here are a few ideas for year end and the upcoming year to help maximize the benefits of your giving for you and our parish.
Christmas Envelopes: There is a Christmas envelope in your envelope packet. We hope that you will maintain your regular weekly support along with making a special Christmas contribution. Please give generously. The Parish budget is based on both envelopes.
Stock Contributions: If you have appreciated stock this year, you may realize a tax break by donating to St. Vincent de Paul Church. If you do so, the contribution is deductible for the full value of the shares and you don’t have to pay taxes on gains in the stock’s value.
Donor Advised Funds: A donor-advised fund can be created by depositing cash, appreciated securities or other assets, and then having the money distributed to charities over time. This allows, you to have a higher deduction in one year, while enabling the charity to have an even cash flow over more than one year. If the new tax law is causing you to reconsider what you give to charity, consider a Donor Advised Fund. Many financial institutions offer this option to their clients.
IRA Distributions: If you are 70-1/2 or older, you can direct a portion of your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) to be sent directly from your IRA account to the Parish or charity. The portion that goes directly to the Parish or charity is not recognized as a taxable part of your RMD.
Employer Matching Funds: You may wish to consult with your employer to see if a matching gift from your company can double the value of your contribution to St. Vincent de Paul - Parish or School.
Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund: This a fund set up to ensure the long-term care of the Cemetery when all graves and niches have been sold. The Perpetual Care Fund is designed to grow and achieve investment results so that investment return will continue to pay for Cemetery care after the Cemetery is full. Give a memorial gift to the Perpetual Care fund, leaving a legacy that never ends.
Major Repair and Replacement Fund: As facilities age, Parish needs are growing beyond what receipts from the annual Raffle and Major Repair and Replacement envelope can provide. If you don’t now, we encourage you to strongly consider using the gold envelope in your packet, or you can make a periodic or one-time contribution on the Parish website www.saintvdp.org.
St. Vincent de Paul School: If you are looking to make an end of year donation to keep taxes down, please consider a donation to St. Vincent de Paul School. A donation can be made through the School website, or sent to the School or Church office. Help keep Catholic elementary and middle school education strong.
Thrivent Choice: Thrivent clients have a unique opportunity to give Choice dollars to the charities of their choice. St. Vincent de Paul Church and St. Vincent de Paul School are each on the Thrivent list of qualified recipients. Kindly consider the Church and/or School early next year as your Choice dollars become available.

July 23/24 | Archdiocesan Mission Appeal | The Institute of the Incarnate Word uses the funds collected from the mission appeals to care for the disabled, the elderly, and the sick, provide homes for the poor and for abandoned children, manage schools and educational institutions in rural areas in developing countries, and promote pastoral formation of our missionaries related to human, intellectual, and spiritual development. Present in 40 countries, our most challenging missions are in Argentina, Bolivia, Ecuador, Guyana, Iraq, Palestine (Gaza), Papua New Guinea, Peru, Syria, Tajikistan, Tanzania, and Ukraine among others. The collected funds will be used for the day-to-day support for missionaries, to supply material goods, to finish projects, and to meet the basic needs in rural areas where we work. The children, the elderly, the sick, the poor, the abandoned, the handicapped, and the suffering will benefit from these funds. Your support funds the basic needs - such as food and medicine, pastoral works, vehicles to arrive to remote rural areas where there are no roads, to build seminaries and churches to provide hope where the Catholic faith is a minority or does not exist at all for the enrichment of the evangelization program around the world. |
